Sparrows’ Anthem: poem by Sam Burnside, scored by Anselm McDonnell

Sparrows’ Anthem: setting of a poem by Sam Burnside (July 2019)Score  by Welsh-Irish Composer Anselm McDonnell (July – September 2019.) Commissioned by Stella Burnside for the Altnagelvin Hospital Choir and dedicated to all those who have who do or will,  serve in the hospital. 

The inaugural performance will be on 14th December 2019, as part of the Altnagelvin Christmas Concert and also as part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations of Altnagelvin Hospital Choir

AnselmMcDonnell is a composer of Irish/Welsh heritage, currently based in Belfast. He has composed over fifty works for orchestra, chamber groups, choirs, soloists and electronics. His music has been performed in Finland, Canada, the Czech Republic, Japan, Russia, France, North America and various locations around the UK and Ireland. 

Columba Canticles

The Columba Canticles was performed in 2013 in St Columb’s Cathedral, Derry-Londonderry and the Stormone, Belfast. Here is a short excerpt from the performance which was recorded in Derry.
