The public art work within the garden was selected through an open competition. Together with Alpha Stained Glass, who designed and constructed seven free-standing stained glass panels, Burnside wrote seven Haiku on the theme of  The Journey. Each poem asks the onlooker to reflect in turn on Awareness, Hope, Compassion, Wisdom, Respect, Reconciliation and Understanding.
